Even with the housing market far from prospering, a Boynton Beach home building company is having a grand opening for high-end homes that are still selling.
GL Homes is set to open eight new fully furnished model homes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19 at Canyon Springs in Boynton Beach, south of Boynton Beach Boulevard off Lyons Road.
Marcie DePlaza, division president for GL Homes, said Canyon Springs has 500 family homes of which 140 have been sold.
The price of the homes ranges from $300,000 to about $1 million.
DePlaza said the grand opening would include face painting for children, a charity event and a raffle for $5,000, in which the winner chooses what charity to donate the money.
The eight model homes include various amenities that DePlaza said are usually found only with million-dollar homes.
One model includes a new central control system, where the owner can control everything in the house from lighting, window shades, music and security.
She said the central control system helps to conserve energy and is beneficial for the environment.
DePlaza said a different aspect of the grand opening is the fully furnished model homes.
"It is just something you don't see these days," she said. "It is a financial commitment but one that adds quality to a development."
