GL Homes V.P. Tambra Wolfe presented Monica Makram, a student ambassador for K is for Kids, with a $1,000 donation for the foundation’s Rising Readers program.
The check was presented at Riverstone in Naples, a GL Homes development of single family homes. The grant will help boost the Foundation’s Rising Readers programs in Riverstone’s neighborhood schools.
“GL Homes was the first business sponsor of the Bring a Book, Bring a Friend Fun’raiser back in 2004 when the event was hosted in Saturnia Lakes. Thanks to their continued support, K is for Kids has been able to expand its reading programs to all three of the schools their community’s children attend here in north Naples – Laurel Oak Elementary, Oakridge Middle and Gulf Coast High schools,” said K is for Kids founder and executive director, Karen Clawson.
Monica Makram, who has volunteered for K is for Kids as a model in its annual Teen Fashion Show, received the donation on behalf of the foundation. Monica is a rising junior at Gulf Coast High School and follows in the footsteps of her cousins, Mary and Marina Moussa. Both girls were amongst the foundation’s top teen leaders and student ambassadors, and served full internships while seniors in high school with K is for Kids.
“Choosing Monica as our student ambassador was a natural choice – she has volunteered with our foundation in a leading role while in middle school, plus she and her extended family are excited to be amongst the first families to live in the Riverstone neighborhood.”
K is for Kids would like to thank GL Homes for its continuing support of its reading programs.
